As some of you know, this Thursday, Green Day will release the music video for the song “Last of the American Girls”, off of their 2009 album 21st Century Breakdown. It looks insane. Yeah, theres a preview- and from what we see, Gloria (the main character) kicks major butt and can blow up cars by making a gun with her hands and ‘shooting’ it. The Canon Powershot SD1200 IS seems like the ideal camera; it’s small, it’s cute, ten megapixels, excellent photo quality, simple, and it’s got an optical viewfinder and a high quality LCD screen.
I got this camera back in August, and it was great. The photo quality was amazing, the camera was overall nice. That evening, after using the camera quite literally all day, the lens got stuck. I managed to force the lens back into place, and it kept on working fine until early October.
The camera had slipped out of my pocket and slipped off the couch, a twelve inch fall onto carpet. And what happened? The shell started coming off.
Everyone drops their camera at one time, and typically, a little tumble like that wouldn’t cause much damage. But this one, this wrecked the camera.
Then a bit before Christmas, the camera’s motor completely overheated. The telescoping on the lens fell off.
My camera literally exploded.
I’ve heard reports from other people who have had the SD1200, and they’ve said that if you use the camera too much, too often, that will happen. Most people who would be using a camera like the SD1200 are people who take a lot of photos, people who use the camera often, and push it a bit hard, too.
I’m just saying, do NOT buy this camera if you’re looking for a tough compact camera. But if you’re one of those people who only uses it every so often, this could work.
Just handle it carefully…very, very carefully.

Long story short, before Lukie’s Skywire VIP Walkthrough, our main source of traffic was that old textures post. Since I’m not awesome enough to make a huge cheatsheet/walkthrough, here’s a load of epic grunge textures. So get ready to texture stuff until your computer tries to murder you. Hey, it happens.

In general, I’m borrowing textures from LOST AND TAKEN, textur.es ( if it’s back up yet… ), and cgtextures (which you need a free account for). There are some from other sites, but these are my main ones. Please note: some textures link to single images, but a lot of them link to posts full of similar texture.

Yeah, that’s right: VIACOM. You know- Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, Neopets, the works. They’re massive. And evil. And here are some reasons exactly why.

1. Neopets

A year or two after I stopped playing Neopets, I had a sudden urge to go back and look at my profile, maybe check to see if TNT (The Neopets Team) had done anything about my inability to log in. What I saw was shocking- the site was completely different, nothing was where it should’ve been, and the whole thing looked so…commercial. After a few minutes of investigating, I discovered that Neopets had apparently been bought out by none other than the notorious Viacom. From there, they have ruined the site, introducing all these things you have to pay for, changing the cute little pet pictures, and, as far as I can see, made all the fun things impossible to find. Recently, it got worse- now even ignorant 4 year olds know that the “nickelodeon people” own Neopets, due to an annoying toolbar on the top of every page.

I mean… Neopets is how a whole generation of ten year olds got into web design. I’m not kidding you. This site is only here today because the original Neopets team (some awesome, British, 20 year olds) decided to see if kids could learn HTML. It obviously worked.

Will someone please, please spam TVT?

2. MTV

The original purpose of MTV: play music videos.

The current purpose of MTV: play a few decent music videos and brainwash children and teenagers with really, really bad reality shows.

3. The internet

Besides failing with Neopets, Viacom is taking two of Comedy Central’s most popular shows (The Daily Show and Colbert Report) off of Hulu. As you should know, Hulu is a really popular internet-TV site. You know…the one with Alec Baldwin, and gooey aliens. It’s the only place that has full Simpsons episodes.
